384

Gov. Mike DeWine announced that $33.3 million has been awarded to 747 schools and districts across Ohio through the Stronger Connections Grant from the Ohio Department of Education.

The Stronger Connections Grant was approved under the Bipartisan Safer Communities Act to provide students with healthier learning environments. This grant gives resources to help schools combat hurdles that may prevent a student from engaging in learning. This includes health and mental health needs. Its priority is student wellness.

The schools that applied for this grant received a Tier 1 or Tier 2 award based on health and safety factors. Eligible schools that demonstrated a high need and applied for additional funding received an additional Tier 3 amount. Tier 3 works with local stakeholders and community partners to help determine their communities’ health and safety needs and plan for the use of the funds received.
