GREENVILLE – The Darke County Board of Commissioners met on Thursday afternoon.
Commissioners Matt Aultman and Larry Holmes were present.
The board heard Mercedes McFarland gave an OSU Extension office update. She introduced Tina McGillvary, the new Family and Consumer Science educator for Darke County.
“This is day nine,” McGillvary said. “I come from North Carolina, but I’m originally from Troy, so I’ve just been out of the state for eight years, so I’m glad to be back. I’m super excited to work in Darke County. I remember my Grandpa bringing me to the Annie Oakley Museum years and years ago, so I’m looking forward to it. I’m really having a good time starting to dip my toe out and meet people.”
The board then accepted a quote for a Darke County Animal Shelter camera system. The system includes the installation of 16 cameras at various locations around the shelter, a 32-channel system for future growth, 12 TB storage, a 55-inch monitor, and a Camera in the front office with audio capability. Three businesses gave bids with the same criteria. The board accepted the bid from Doss Business Systems for $6,984.99.
The board also heard updates from Greg Billing, executive director of the Darke County Visitors Bureau. A new Mural was put up across from Maid-Rite. Ethan Tutwiler won the design contest. They’ve given out around 400 pairs of eclipse glasses. They tied that in with a food drive and have raised 300 cans of nonperishable items and around $160 in donations for the Fish Choice food pantry.
