New Board of Zoning Appeals Members Announced

DARKE COUNTY – The  Darke County Commissioners’ September 1, 2026 regular meeting started at 9:30 a.m. with Commissioners Aultman, Combs and Flatter present. The Commissioners then approved the minutes from August 27th.

Two departments had transfers of appropriations. The Prosecutor’s office transferred $ 2,000.00 for office supplies, and Zoning transferred $890.00 for office supplies as well.

Two members were appointed to the Darke County Board of Zoning Appeals. Brent Bergman and Scott Smith, both of Wabash Township, were both approved.

An expense request for Juvenile/Probate was approved. Barb Hocker will attend the 2026 Court Investigators Conference in Dublin, Ohio, on Sept. 28th for a total of $275.00.

An Order levying maintenance assessments on the single county ditches was approved. Total amount of collections for 2027 will be $623,413.07.

A supplemental agreement for project order #5, the airport apron and taxi lane resurfacing rehab, was approved. The new total for the county will be $ 10,080.00 instead of $ 5,040.00.

A fund advance for Darke County grants was approved. The advance was for two projects, both for the 2024 CDBG Grant. Wagner Paving was approved for the New Weston street improvement project, and American Decorative Concrete for the Palestine sidewalk replacement project. The total advance was $134,198.64.

The Commissioners went into executive session with Josh Gunckle from the Prosecutor’s office at 10:01 for pending imminent court action, and returned at 10:06.
