LEWISTOWN – In what has been a weekly occurrence since a week five win at Parkway, the Versailles Tigers offense was non-existent. The offense only scored three touchdowns leading up to Friday’s game against the Indian Lake Lakers.
The Lakers took a 6-0 lead into the half as the Tigers offense could not sustain a drive.

“Offensively, we couldn’t get it done, couldn’t move the ball.” Coach Ryan Jones said. “Our defense didn’t play too bad, but we kept putting them in bad positions.”
Penalties and turnovers hurt Versailles all night. In the first half, every time they started to get something going, a penalty set them back. The second half was more of the same, with turnovers leading to 13 Lakers points.

The Tigers scored on a two-play drive to make it 19-7 against the Logan County school. A 36-yard pass to Ben Subler and a 29-yard pass to Chase Monnin gave the Tigers life, but turnovers again stopped any threat.
The Versailles varsity football program will return a solid core of players next year. The senior class has improved throughout their careers. Although they did not win a game in junior high, their five wins and a trip to the playoffs proved their work.

The Versailles Tigers close out the 2024 season with a 5-6 record.
