PREBLE COUNTY – The Preble County Sheriff’s Office is investigating a two-vehicle fatal crash that occurred Wednesday evening, April 16th, at approximately 8:52 P.M., on SR 122, south of Yost Road.
The preliminary investigation found that a 2022 Jeep, driven by Brian Rowe, age 53 of Germantown, was traveling south on SR 122. A 2016 Nissan, driven by Spencer Hunt, age 22 of Eaton, was traveling north on SR 122. Hunt’s vehicle traveled left of center, striking Rowe’s vehicle.
Rowe was transported to Miami Valley Hospital by ambulance with non-life-threatening injuries. Hunt was pronounced dead at the scene. Deputies believe alcohol may have been a factor in this crash. Hunt was transported to the Montgomery County Coroner’s Office, where an autopsy will be conducted today.
Gasper Twp. Fire / EMS, Eaton Fire / EMS, Camden Fire / EMS and the Preble County Coroner’s Office responded to the scene. Eaton PD and the Ohio Department of Transportation assisted as well… SR 122 was closed for approximately four hours while deputies conducted their investigation.
The crash remains under investigation by the Sheriff’s Office and the Preble County Coroner’s Office.
