UNION CITY, IN – The Union City Lady Indians defeated the Union Lady Rockets 50-29 in the opening round of County Tournament action.
The Lady Indians jumped out to a 14-2 lead after one quarter of play with Oaklee Reichard scoring 10-points including 2-2 at the charity stripe.
Union bounced back with nine second quarter points while Union City was taking advantage of seven Reichard points to add 10-points to the board sending the teams to the break with the Lady Indians leading 24-11.
Period No. 3 went to Union City by a 12-10 score giving the Lady Indians a 36-21 advantage with three quarters in the book.
Union City put the game away in the fourth outscoring the Lady Rockets 14-8 to earn the opening round tournament win.
Reichard led Union City and all scorers with a game high 30-points, pulled down 10-rebounds to register a double double and had 5-steals on the night. Camryn Fischer accounted for 11-rebounds and 8-points for the Lady Indians.
The Lady Indians improve to 7-10 on the season and take on the Randolph Southern Rebels on Friday night with a 6 p.m. start time.
