The White House has ordered around 700 drawstring bags from the company.

The bags will be given out by President Joe Biden, and First Lady Jill Biden while they’re on visits, as well as for sale in the White House gift shop.

Troy Sunshade, located in Greenville, manufactures a large line of cloth products, both standard and custom designed.

Co-Owner John Baumgardner said it’s an exciting project for the locally-owned company.

“It’s pretty cool that our backpacks will be in the hands of the President of the United States,” he said. “I think any time you can get a product from Greenville, Ohio in the White House, it’s great.”

Troy Sunshade was contacted by a promotional company regarding the project.

The White House first ordered 100 backpacks, which they asked to be sent as soon as possible.

“They needed them right away,” Baumgardner said. “They are going on a visit, so they will take them with them.”

In addition to working with the President of the United States, the company is in the middle of a move.

Two to three months from now, Baumgarder said he hopes to be moved into the old Marsh Grocery store.

The location will be a bit smaller, but Baumgardner said it will be nice to have the company all on one-level.

Troy Sunshade is currently located at 607 Riffle Ave. For more information on the company, check out their Facebook Page or give them a call at 937-548-2466.
