GREENVILLE – The Greenville Municipal Concert Band returns to the Marling Band Shell in the Greenville City Park on Sunday, June 29 at 7:00 pm.
This “Welcome Back Concert” will kick off the band’s 2025 summer concert series. The band hopes to reunite with old friends and welcome new listeners to this concert in one of the most pleasant concert venues in the area. There is plenty of seating available on park benches, or listeners may bring their own lawn chairs. There is no admission charge for the concert. The band will be under the direction of its associate director, Doug Albright.
There will be a wide variety of music on this program, showcasing the versatility of the concert band. The audience can expect to hear the following titles: “Medley of Music from Wicked,” “The Overture to The Jealous Lover,” “Shaker Lullabye and Dance,” “Fiesta Tropicale,” “Dance to the Music,” and the traditional marches “Washington Post,” “Bombasto,” and “The Stars and Stripes Forever.” A highlight of the program will be a new medley of Billy Joel hits entitled “Billy Joel in Concert.”
The featured group for the evening will be the band’s trombone trio. Trombonists Ken Heinlen, Tom Hoelscher and Ted Shuttleworth will be featured on the dixieland classic, “Tiger Rag.”
