Preble County Sheriff’s Office investigates suspected murder-suicide

PREBLE COUNTY – On Monday at approximately 5:15 p.m. the Preble County Sheriff’s Office along with the Ohio State Highway Patrol were dispatched to I-70 at the Indiana state line in reference to a vehicle traveling eastbound in the westbound lane of travel.

Law enforcement was immediately in the area, however, were unable to locate the vehicle.

At approximately 9:17 p.m. Deputies were dispatched back to the area regarding a vehicle that was seen in a ditch believed to be disabled. The vehicle was sitting on the north side of I-70 in a ditch on the side of the US 35 onramp, which is currently closed due to construction.

A Wayne County Indiana Sheriff’s Deputy along with Preble County Deputies and OSP responded to the area and located the vehicle. The vehicle was believed to be the same vehicle that units had been dispatched to, earlier in the shift, regarding wrong-way driving on the interstate.

Officers discovered two deceased persons in the vehicle with apparent gunshot wounds. The scene was secured and investigated, and an autopsy was performed on the deceased Tuesday at the Montgomery County Coroner’s Office.

The matter is preliminarily being investigated as a Murder/Suicide. The deceased occupants of the vehicle have been identified as Alysha M. Rountree (31) of Pryor Creek, Oklahoma and Robert L. Wilson III (31) formerly of Twinsburg, Ohio.

Investigation into the matter continues by the Preble County Sheriff’s Office, the Preble County Coroner’s Office, and the Pryor Creek Oklahoma Police Department.
