PREBLE COUNTY – On July 22, 2026, deputies stopped a 2000 Ford Mustang in the 1800 block of US 40 West for speed and other traffic violations.
During the stop, deputies determined that the driver did not have a valid operator’s license, and he was subsequently arrested.
During a search incident to arrest, deputies located approximately (12) grams of suspected Methamphetamine and drug paraphernalia.
Robert D. Downing, Jr., age 44 of New Paris, has been charged in Eaton Municipal Court with Aggravated Possession of Drugs, a 3rd Degree Felony; and Illegal Use or Possession of Drug Paraphernalia, a 4th Degree Misdemeanor
Downing is currently under supervision of the Ohio Adult Parole Authority, and a holder has been placed from them as well.
He remains in the Preble County Jail. Bond has been set by the court.
