GREENVILLE – Darke County Veterans Services hosted a chartered bus trip for Darke County Veterans to the National Veterans Memorial and Museum in Columbus, OH.

“It is always a good time when we get Veterans together to see a little bit of history and share their stories,” said DCVS Director/CVSO, Tom Pitman.

There is only one Museum in America that honors all Veterans from all branches of service, and from all eras of our nation’s proud history of military serviced, both peacetime and wartime. The National Veterans Memorial and Museum is a powerful and personal experience designed to give a voice to every man and woman who answered the call for our country.

This is neither a war memorial nor a military museum. The National Veterans Memorial and Museum takes visitors on a narrative journey telling individual stories and shared experiences of Veterans throughout history.

“It is great to have the Memorial close by,” Pitman said. “It’s not a far trip for our Veterans to go see the Memorial and Museum here in Ohio.”

The Darke County Veterans received a guided tour of the facility adding to the memorable visit in downtown Columbus.

The Museum’s mission is to honor and positively impact the lives of Veterans, their families and our communities through sharing the Veteran experience.

Its vision is to Honor, Connect, Inspire, and Educate to create national networks that empower and provide opportunities for Veterans.

Following the visit to the Memorial and Museum, the Veterans were treated to dinner at Der Dutchman in Plain City, OH.
