Life’s Reflections: Recent weather spoils us; Bring on spring temps

Out and about on Sunday, and what did I see my first golf cart of the season, whatever season this may be. Ashley Burke and her son, Alister, decided to get theirs out and head to the local store. We enjoy seeing all of the people in the town of Ansonia roaming the streets when there are warm temperatures. It doesn't take much to make Jamie and me happy when we see our friends out having fun. ANSONIA—Despite a few harsh winds, we have been having some beautiful weather of late. I can live with that.

However, I’ve talked to people making the remark that they’ve heard that we’re going to make up for it in March. And, that may not be so pretty.

Maybe I’m wrong as I’ve never seen it this nice in February, but I’m enjoying it.

Anybody who knows me, knows that I do not like to drive in wintry weather, especially the older I get. I value my life, others’ lives and my car.

Plus, I don’t need to fall on an ice-covered step, driveway or road and street. I have this fear of breaking a body part as well as what the snow and its friends — ice and sleet — could bring.

I know, I did it when I was younger, but I don’t want to have to do it today at this age.

Things could get ugly fast.

That’s why I would rather stay safe when the colder temperatures and other things that could come with it happen. People can call me whatever they want. I don’t care.

I’ve done my time during my full-time working years, but I’ve slowed down quite a bit.

And, I’m fine with that.

The only worry I have is that if I committed myself to a project or assignment regarding my present reporting situation, I generally like to follow through. But, I don’t really want to risk my life now.

I really can’t wait until we can sit outside in the driveway and watch pedestrians and motorists go by. We love doing that.

Sometimes we can’t see who is driving past, because of tinted windows or poor eyesight on our part, but we enjoy the opportunity to see people out and about.

We have some friends that stop in much of the time and we chit chat and keep up on each others’ lives. It’s great. Can’t wait.

Now, since I’ve bored you with weather talk, I hope you enjoy the rest of winter and that it treats us well.

And, most of all, stay safe no matter what!
