GREENVILLE – The Lady Wave varsity tennis team defeated the Stebbins Lady Indians 4-1 in a Tuesday night MVL match at Greenville National Bank Courts.
Playing first singles for the Lady Wave, sophomore Riley Capasso defeated Lady Indians junior Rayna Ortiz 6-0, 6-1. Maddie Lance was up 4-3 in the first set against Rabiya Dauletaliy at second singles but had to forfeit the match due to a health issue.
Greenville sophomore Sienna Gilman, playing third singles for the Lady Wave, split sets 4-6, 7-6 with Maddie Mann and earned the win, taking the super tiebreaker 10-4 to clinch the match.
The Lady Wave first doubles team of Haylee Shuttleworth and Meadow Murphy earned a win over La’Issa Gakunzi and Stephanie Chen 6-1,6-1. The second doubles team of Charlie Pope and Cloe Osborne defeated Stebbins’ EmaLee Crackel and M. Randall 6-0, 6-1.
Next up for Greenville will be the West Carrollton Lady Pirates on Tuesday, September 3, when they travel to West Carrollton for a 4:30 p.m. match.
