GREENVILLE –  The Darke County Board of Commissioners met Tuesday afternoon.

Commissioners Matt Aultman, Marshall Combs, and Larry Holmes were all present.

Chief Bair with the Darke County Animal Shelter was in attendance. Commissioners approved Fixing Animal Shelter Rates for 2025, with no changes from last year.

“Last year, we did a five-year outlook on them. At this time, I don’t see any reason to raise or change fees,” said Bair.

Commissioners also approved a Spectrum Business Services Agreement for the Animal Shelter. The agreement will provide WIFI and Landline Service at the Shelter, which currently does not have access to its own internet. The cost is roughly $150, which is significantly less than the two bills they had coming in before, which were roughly $270 for their phone lines.

Commissioners approved a Certificate of Appointment for Erin Lester. She will begin as the Darke County Commissioners’ Assistant Clerk/Secretary on September 3rd, 2024.

Terminating agreements between the Darke County Commissioners and Key Funding Services, Inc was also approved.

It was a mutual agreement between both parties under Section 5 of the contracts, “giving the other party Notice of Termination by registered United States all thirty (30) days prior to termination” or “Termination may be made effective immediately by agreement of both parties.”  All agreements are to be terminated as of August 31st, 2024.

Also on the agenda was a contract between the Darke County Commissioners and the New Madison Public Library.

Commissioner Combs has been working on this project. The money from this grant is to be used for technology.

‘The New Madison Public Library will provide digital Literacy assistance to Darke County Residents within their facilities aged 60 and over.’

“I’ve been working with the Director of the New Madison Public Library,” shared Combs. “They will be purchasing a list of different things, including different types of computers, tablets, and listening devices for those who may have difficulty using other devices.”

The total sum is not to exceed $5,356.02.

Commissioner Combs wished all the kids starting school this week well and expressed gratitude to the teachers as well.
