GREENVILLE – The Greenville Lady Wave earned a 10-0 MVL run-rule win over the visiting Butler Lady Aviators to stay perfect on the season in conference play.

“Just a great day for Lady Wave Softball, the softball team, and neat for the kids,” said Greenville coach Jerrod Newland. “Good Butler team, third or fourth best team in the league.”

The Lady Wave pounded out 18 hits on the night while freshman Ella Oswalt and sophomore Lizzie Shaffer combined on the mound for a four-hit shutout on the day.

“We came out and hit the ball really well, and both pitchers threw well,” Newland stated. “Kendall (Cromwell), great job behind the plate. Kendall and Ally (Russell Bowers) are doing amazing, catching them and calling them. Proud of the kids; hitting the ball solid and square and having fun.”

The teams played to a 0-0 standoff after one complete inning before GHS freshman shortstop Leah Force crushed a one-out solo home run to center and a 1-0 Lady Wave advantage. Greenville closed out the inning, exploding for an additional five runs, all coming with two outs.

“She got us on the board there in the second, hitting the ball out – it’s still going,” Coach Newland said of Force’s home run. “It went down by the dumpster. She’s an amazing young lady. Proud of everybody, the program, the staff, and just fun stuff.”
