NEW MADISON – The Tri-Village Lady Patriots hosted the Greenville Lady Wave in a Thursday night scrimmage at the PAC.
Tri-Village veteran Lady Patriots basketball coach Brad Gray, owner of a 2022-2023 perfect 30-0 state championship season, was somewhat upbeat while looking for improvement from his team with the upcoming season on the horizon.
“The way that we are still battling is good,” said Gray. “We are a team that will compete night in and night out and not just hand things to people. We have a competitive edge to us, but just having a competitive edge isn’t going to win you games; you still have to get things done.”

“We play hard, we hustle,” Gray added. “We feel like we need to get in better shape. We must get in better shape for the speed we want to play. Are we in bad shape – no, I don’t think we are in bad shape at all.”
Coach Gray was more pleased with an earlier preseason scrimmage than the Thursday night home scrimmage.

“There are always positives and negatives,” Coach Gray noted. “There are some glaring areas we need to get better. I thought we took a step back compared to our last scrimmage against Russia and Crestview, in which we showed some huge positives. There were still a lot of positives today.”
The Lady Patriots look to defend their WOAC title coming off three consecutive perfect 11-0 WOAC championship seasons.
