Commissioners award PY 23 LEAD Safe Ohio & PY 22 CHIP-LAP Grant Funds

GREENVILLE – The Darke County Board of Commissioners met Thursday afternoon.

Commissioners Marshall Combs and Larry Holmes were both present. Commissioner Aultman was absent.

Under Resolution (R-407-2024), Examination and Allowance of Bills dated for November 14, 2024 were read and approved. The amount of the General Fund was $41,956.09; Outside General Funds were $180,127.74; with a Grand Total of $222,083.83. 

Four Transfer of Appropriations were approved for Darke County Airport, Darke County Juvenile/ Probate, Darke County Sheriff, and Darke County Vehicle Maintenance.

Darke County Airport requested $1,719.00 total out of the General Fund. There were not enough appropriations for the Firewall upgrade. 

Darke County Juvenile/ Probate requested $10,144.00 total out of the Outside Fund. These appropriations changes will cover the remainder of 2024.

Darke County Sheriff requested $1,900.00 total out of the General Fund. This transfer will be for chairs needed at the department.

Darke County Vehicle Maintenance requested $3,000.00 out of the General Fund. This transfer will cover October, November, and December sales tax for airport fuel and oil.

Commissioners approved a resignation from the Darke County Animal Shelter for Part Time Kennel Worker – Hailey Ashmore. 

An expense request for Darke County Veterans was also approved for a mandatory conference November 22-24, 2024. Scott Riffle, Jennifer Anthony, Gaylen Blosser, James Kammer, and Chris Rehmert will all be attending with the total amount coming to $3,190.00.

Under Resolution (R-412-2024), the Commissioners approved to award the PY 23 LEAD Safe Ohio & PY 20 CHIP-LAP Grant Funds to the Location of 1012 State Route 571, Union City, Ohio. The repair work will entail installation of siding, encapsulation of fascia, replacement of windows and replacement of doors. The Project amount totals $45,800.00 and not to exceed $69,810.00.

Under Resolution (R-4113-2024), the Commissioners also approved to award the PY 23 LEAD Safe Ohio & PY 20 CHIP-LAP Grant Funds to the Location of 331 North Walnut Street, Union City, Ohio. The repair work will entail installation of siding, encapsulation of fascia and soffit, replacement of gutters, windows, and doors and paint to stabilize basement window casings. The Project amount totals $56,600.00 and not to exceed $68,200.00.

Commissioner Combs shared some updated information from the September 18th, 2024 Tire Recycling Day. The total weight of recycled tires was 55.73 tons which is a slightly increased number from last year.
