Join us for ‘Tea and Chat’ at Arcanum Wayne Trail Historical Society

ARCANUM – The Arcanum Wayne Trail Historical Society, located at 123 West George in Arcanum, will host a Tea and Chat with Larry Wright on Saturday, August 1 at 10am.

Larry is a descendant of the Ivester family through the Kepner’s and he will share about the family and home through his private collection as well as the collection on display which Larry donated to AWTHS last year. Guests will be able to ask questions as well as view the displays.

Part of the collection includes old photos, especially of his grandmother, Helen Kepner Wright, and old letters dating back to the Civil War written to the Ivester family.

Helen’s mother was Josephine Ivester Kepner. Thus, Larry’s family tie. The parents were George and Rebecca Ivester and they had six children: Martha (Mattie), William, Josephine (Emma), Olive, Allie and Mina.

The most well-known fact is that the Arcanum Public Library was originally the Ivester home. Martha donated the Ivester grounds at her death to the Village of Arcanum and today it is the beautiful Ivester Park and Nature Preserve that so many of the community enjoy.
Come and learn more while enjoying a cup of tea and light refreshments until 11:30.

The Arcanum Public Library will also be open from 9am-1pm to tour and view the artifacts found in closets and the attic.

Please kindly RSVP to reserve your teacup by July 30 by email at awthsinfo@gmail.com or through AWTHS Facebook page Messenger.

Victorian hats and attire are welcome to complete the Victorian look but not mandatory.

We look forward to seeing you August 1.
