GREENVILLE—The Greenville Track and Field five-day camp closed on a high note. All 105 campers received new camp T-shirts while spending several hours swimming at the Greenville City Park swimming pool.
“The camp was awesome,” said longtime Greenville head varsity track and field coach Bill Plessinger. “I say this every year, but it was probably one of the best camps ever.”

Coach Plessinger gets excellent support from his high school track and field athletes for the week-long camp.
“The camp runs as well as the help I have,” Plessinger stated. “I am very fortunate to have great help. Almost every kid at camp who was a helper came through camp, so they understood the whole process.
“I have the best help,” he added. “I couldn’t do this camp without the help I have – they’re amazing.”

Coach Plessenger introduced the young campers to the triple jump at the 2024 camp, a first for the Greenville track and field camp.
“I’ve learned over the 24 years of camps kids can do much more than you think they can,” Coach Plessinger said. “This year was our first attempt at a triple jump, and I had second graders already having the three steps down. We saw many great performances, and the kids all seemed to have fun.”

“It was another great camp culminating with the pool party,” Coach Plessinger concluded. “Another great year.”
