GREENVILLE – The 2024 Greenville Farm Power of the Past closed out the 25th annual event with a record-setting 448 tractors on the grounds of the Great Darke County Fair, surpassing the previous record set in 2017 with 428 tractors.
Former Power of the Past President Von Oswalt introduced Pastor Jim Meredith, the organization’s Chaplain, to lead Sunday morning worship services, with Nancy Livingston Fletter providing special music.
“What a four days, what a week, it has all been worth it,” said Power of the Past president, Chet Linebaugh. “We’ve had one heck of a show, and our turnout has been fantastic. It’s been good.”
The Power of the Past committee consists of seventeen directors and seven Senior Advisors who make the show a success each year.
“The volume of work and effort it takes to put this show on, everybody handles it in stride; everybody has worked together,” Linebaugh stated. “I am humbled by how things turned out for this show.”
“This is Rural America with Darke County and Mercer County being the top two agricultural counties in Ohio, there is a lot of support for shows like this,” added Linebaugh. “This show is a family event; you can’t say enough good things about these people.”
“Thanks to Bill and Barbara Young for their years of dedication to this group,” he said. “They’re at the top of the list this year because they have been with us from the beginning. We have exhibitors that have been here since the beginning. Thank you to everyone who has participated this weekend, helped out, pitched in, people see things that need to be done and they take care of it.”
The 26th Annual Reunion will be held July 10-13, 2025, featuring Oliver and Case tractors. It will host the Buckeye Oliver Summer Show and Oil Field Engine Society featuring Oil Field and Michigan Built Engines.
“We’ve already started on next year,” said Linebaugh. “This is a multi-year planning process. That’s what it takes to get some of these state, regional, and national collector groups to come in. It’s a lot of work, but it’s well worth it.”
