SUICIDE THREAT

Police responded to the 300 block of S. Chippewa St in reference to a subject making suicidal threats. Upon arrival I spoke with the complainant, Kristie Hanes. Hanes advised she had been in contact over the phone with her ex boyfriend, most of the day. Kristie advised that she had been texting and speaking on the phone with him. Her ex told her that he was now homeless and had stayed at the Baymont Hotel on Martin St the night before. Kristie and him got into an argument and she eventually hung up on him because he was screaming at her. He began texting her eventually leading to a text saying he was going to harm himself. Kristie believed the threats to be real since he mentioned to her on the phone that he had a knife. Kristie filled out a statement regarding this incident. Kristie sent a screenshot of the woods and messages from him to officer’s email address. Police had dispatch ping his cell phone. It pinged at several locations in Darke County just west of the city limits on State Route 502 and the 3000 block of Greenville Nashville Rd. Eventually, the phone died with it pinging directly behind the 3000 block of Greenville Nashville Rd. Darke County Sheriff’s Deputies along with GPD checked the area thoroughly but were unable to locate him in any of the woods or field near the area. Darke County Deputies deployed a drone as well and were still unable to locate him. Kristie was notified that we were unable to locate her ex boyfriend. Kristie could not give a good location or person that he would go to. Her ex boyfriend was entered into LEADS/NCIC a missing adult and a “pink slip” was filled out to be served when he is located for an emergency mental evaluation.
