GREENVILLE – The Green Wave swept the visiting West Carrollton Pirates in a Monday night MVL double header by scores of 2-1 in extra innings and 9-7 in a come from behind second game.

“I’m proud of the way the kids played tonight,” said Greenville coach, Adam Eberwein. “They could have easily given up especially in that second game.”
In the opening game Greenville plated a run in the bottom of the fourth for a 1-0 lead that would hold up until the Pirates evened the score at 1-1 in the top of the sixth where the score would stand at the end of the seventh sending the game to extra-innings.
“Their two pitchers, their No. 1 and No. 2 are pretty decent pitchers,” said Eberwein. “When you look at their stats when they’re on the mound, usually they are low scoring games and they do a pretty good job.”
Jackson Eberwein reached base in the top of the eighth, Trevor Mardin was hit by a pitch setting up a Keaton Hill run scoring single to right plating Jackson Eberwein with the winning walk-off run.

Bryce Blumenstock pitched six-innings allowing no earned runs, two-hits, five-walks while striking out nine. Brock Short threw 2.0-innings of no-hit ball, no walks and five strikeouts.
Keaton Hill was 1-1 with the game winning RBI; Blumenstock, Avery Ernst, Ricky Heidrich each had singles and Owen Mcgreevey had a RBI.

Game No. 2 did not look good for Greenville playing as the visiting team in the second game of the twin bill with the Wave coming to the plate in the top of the seventh-inning trailing by four-runs at 3-7.

“I was proud of the way we kept on playing, we didn’t give up,” Eberwein stated. “There was an opportunity there we could have easily give up on that game but we didn’t, we fought and it paid off. I’m proud of the way we played tonight.”

Greenville put together a string of timely hits to go along with several walks to plate six-runs giving the Wave a 9-7 lead with West Carrollton coming to the plate in the bottom of the seventh.
Short was came out of the dugout to slam the door on the Pirates striking out the side in order giving the hometown Green Wave a sweep of the night.
“That was huge,” Coach Eberwein said of his senior. “He came in and threw strikes, did his job and got the win.”
“Brock did the same thing in the first game, he came in towards the end and threw strikes, threw hard and did what he was supposed to do,” Eberwein added. “Those are the things we ask of guys like Brock to do.”

AJ Shaffer led the Wave at the plate going 3-4 with 2-RBIs and 2-runs scored. Braden Addis 2-4, 1-RBI, 1-run; Short 2-5, 1-RBI, 1-run; Adam Edwards 1-3, 1-RBI, 2-runs; Drew Hamilton 1-4, 1-RBI; Blumenstock 1-run; Bush 1-RBI, 1-run and Quentin Garner 1-run.
Short earned the win working 1.0 innings, no hits, no walks while striking out all three batters faced. Jackson Eberwein threw 2.2 innings, allowing no earned runs, five-hits, one-walk, three-strikeouts; Adam Edwards pitched 2.1 innings, no earned runs, no walks; Trevor Murdin tossed 1.0 innings, no earned runs, one-walk for the Green Wave.
