GREENVILLE – The Green Wave high school baseball program, under the direction of head coach Adam Eberwein, is in full throttle, gearing up for the 2025 season.
Greenville returns seven seniors to a team that went 11-17 overall in 2024 and 6-12 in conference play.

“We graduated three guys last year, so I don’t have to replace a lot when you’re talking numbers, but obviously, there are a couple guys we will miss this year,” said Eberwein. “We were young last year, starting four freshmen. There are a few guys I feel will fill the roles of those three seniors that graduated.”
Coach Eberwein is pleased with what he sees from the 2025 team, including its senior leadership.
“The positive right now is we have eight seniors,” noted Eberwein. “These eight seniors have been playing baseball together since they were seven. They have a positive thought process right now about setting high goals. Their goal is to try and set the school record wins in baseball for Greenville, and it’s at 18 now.”

“The mental aspect of the game is to set the bar high and to try and meet that bar,” Eberwein continued. “So far, the young guys and the older guys are working together well right now, and their one goal is to win ballgames, and they want to win the MVL. We called it up the other day, and a couple of them said State Champs, so that is the other goal too, to be state champions. With all those goals in mind, it requires much hard work.”
The Miami Valley League, one of the finer baseball conferences in the area, is always a challenge for all ten teams, including the Green Wave.

“It seems like every year the top three teams in the MVL are always Butler, Troy, and Tipp,” Coach Eberwein said. “Those three teams sometimes bounce around a little bit, but I feel like with the group of guys we have, the pitching staff we have, the competitiveness that we have right now on this team, any given day our guys can give those three top teams a run for their money.”
The Wave look to be in decent shape on the pitching mound, have speed on the base paths, and have average power at the plate.

“I can’t determine who our one, two, and three will be, but we have anywhere from five to six guys that have all had varsity pitching experience,” Eberwein said. “That is huge in the game of baseball. With pitch counts, it is very difficult if you have a limited number of pitchers. Getting a good pitching staff together takes a lot of planning.”
“We should be quick on the base paths, especially with the seniors. We have a lot of potential to be pretty dangerous on the base paths. A lot of it comes down to confidence with our experience.”
“We will probably be more Punch and Judy type hitting team,” added Eberwein. “We have a few guys that can put the ball out there pretty far, though.”

Greenville 2014 graduate Ryan Eldridge will serve as Eberwein’s new varsity assistant coach for the 2025 baseball season. Eldridge was an excellent player for the Green Wave football and baseball teams and brings a winning attitude. Former GHS baseball player Tony Sells is back as the program’s JV coach and will be assisted by Ethan Hemmerich, an Ansonia baseball alum.
“Coach Hemmereich is student teaching at Greenville right now,” Eberwein noted. “He graduated from Ansonia, played baseball there, and is helping Tony at the JV level. He is a fantastic addition to the program.”
Greenville opens regular season play on Saturday, March 29, on the road in a non-conference matchup with the Milton-Union Bulldogs with a noon start time.
