Eagles, Arrows, Trail & Panthers earn wins

Eaton, Preble Shawnee, National Trail and Twin Valley South earn weekend boys basketball wins.

Eaton downs TVS to open season 
Eaton’s boys’ varsity basketball team opened the 2022-23 season with a win over county rival Twin Valley South on Friday, Nov. 25.
The Eagles were consistent offensively putting up 12, 10, 11 and 12 points over four quarters. At the same time, Eaton held TVS to eight points or less in each period. They went on to post a 45-23 win.
Eaton is scheduled to face off against three straight SWBL East Division opponents, starting with Franklin on Tuesday, Nov. 29. They will host Bellbrook the following Tuesday and then travel to Waynesville on Friday.
TVS bounces back with 59-44 win 
After struggling offensively in their season opener on Friday, the Twin Valley South boys’ basketball team bounced back with a 59-44 win over Yellow Springs on Saturday, Nov. 26.
TVS dropped their opener against Eaton on Friday, 45-23. They were held to eight points or less in all four quarters.
South opened up the offense against Yellow Springs and took a 16-11 lead by the end of the first period. They built on that lead and went into the locker room at halftime up 26-18. Another 16-point quarter pushed the Panthers lead to 42-29 going into the fourth.
TVS will host Legacy Christian on Tuesday, Nov. 29, before opening Western Ohio Athletic Conference action on Friday against Newton.
PS Arrows open season with win 
Preble Shawnee’s boys’ basketball team opened the 2022-23 season at Mason High School against Heritage Christian (Indianapolis, Indiana) in the Ohio Valley Hoops Classic.
In a close game throughout, the Arrows were able to post a 45-39 win. Down by two points going into the fourth quarter, Preble Shawnee outscored HC 16-10 to take the win.
Mason Shrout leads the Arrows with 26 points.
The Arrows are scheduled to open Western Ohio Athletic Conference play against Arcanum on Friday, Dec. 2.
National Trail 2-0 to open the season 
National Trail’s boys’ varsity basketball team opened the season with a pair of wins, including a Western Ohio Athletic Conference win over Tri-County North.
NT opened their season with an impressive road win Friday night at Tri County North, defeating the Panthers 47-30. The Blazers played well defensively holding North to just 11 points in the first half.
Offensively, Logan Smith came off the Blazers’ bench to score 15 points and pull down 10 rebounds. Kellen Laird added 12 points and five boards.
On Saturday, the Blazers hosted New Miami in a much more contested game. NT led to a basket after the first quarter, 13-11, and by just four points at the break, 22-18. The Blazers pushed the lead to nine in the third quarter, 34-25, and took a 44-38 win.
Smith again led the offense for NT with 12 points. Laird added 10, including three, 3-pointers.
The Blazers will host Bradford on Friday, Dec. 2, and then travel to Northridge on Saturday.
