DARKE COUNTY – The Darke County Commissioners’ August 21, 2025, regular meeting started at 1:30 p.m. with Commissioners Flatter and Combs present.
The Commissioner’s first order of business was the reading of session minutes from Tuesday, the 19th. They were approved. The session proceeded with the examination and allowance of bills for August 21st. Vouchers amounting to $126,250.27 out of the General Fund, and outside funds of $139,751.95 for a total of $266,002.22 were approved for payment.
Various Departments had Transfers of Appropriations. The Commissioners transferred $55.15 from facility maintenance and repair to vehicle maintenance for mower deck repairs, and $414.00 from machinery and equipment, minus $10,000.00 for the SHRM course for 2025. The Airport transferred $1,195.00 for fuel management and support. The Solid Waste Department moved $3000.00 to equipment, minus $5,000.00 to cover the cost of a bike for the Dare Program.
The Sheriff’s office had an expense request for Greg Fourman to attend the Active Shooter Symposium and Critical Incident Debriefings in Columbus on November 18th. The cost was $125.00 and was approved.
Revenue and Appropriation increases were approved for the Grants Dept. and for the Board of Elections. Grants received $306,250.00 for the 2025 Brownfield Grant for Palestine, and the Board of Elections received $90,655.00 for the 2025 Special Election.
Jeff Ballard’s resignation as Building Maintenance Superintendent was accepted.
The Commissioners went into Executive Session for pending or imminent court action at 1:39. The session ended at 1:45, and the regular session ended at 1:48.
