Arcanum baseball wins 6th game in a row

BRADFORD – The Arcanum baseball team defeated Bradford in 6 innings 17-4 and is riding a 6-game win streak while the Roaders dropped their 4th game in a row.

Two teams going in opposite directions as Bradford started the season well at 9-1 and 3-0 in the conference but has since lost to Franklin Monroe, Preble Shawnee, Miami East and now Arcanum dropping to 9-5 overall and 3-3 in the WOAC.

Arcanum started the season 3-3 and has since ran off 6 straight with wins over Benjamin Logan, Marion Locals, Mississinawa Valley, Brookville and now Bradford and stands at 9-3 overall and 5-1 in the WOAC a ½ game behind Tri-Village who is 5-0 in the league.

Arcanum racked up 12 hits with Dakota Kendig, Nates Kessler, Aiden Psczulkoski and Caden Thompson each collecting 2 hits.  Carson Tegtmeyer went 1-3 but had drove in 4 runs.  Tegtmeyer is 2nd in the league with 14 rbi’s.

Freshman pitcher Regan Christ went the distance and had just one inning that he was touched up in the bottom of the 5th inning where Bradford scored 4 runs.  Christ threw 9 strikeouts to collect his 2nd win of the season.

Starting pitcher for Bradford was Tucker Miller who has 3 wins this year and suffered his 1st loss of the year, he leads the league in strikeouts with 50.  Miller has had a great season offensively so far for the Railroaders and is 2nd in the league with a 588-batting average.

Longtime Arcanum coach Randy Baker was pleased with his team’s energy and focus as the Trojans are now playing solid baseball.  They will host a red-hot Twin Valley South on Thursday as the Panthers have also won 6 straight games.

Bradford coach Bill Sturwold is showing patience as they have struggled lately with errors and with a young team it shows.

The Railroaders will try and rebound on Thursday when they travel to Mississinawa Valley.
