PREBLE COUNTY – On Tuesday, at approximately 8:30 P.M., deputies responded to 170 Finland Drive in Lakengren regarding a male subject who had been shot.
When deputies arrived, they found a 24-year-old male with a gunshot wound to his upper torso. The victim ran to a neighbor’s house for help.
An initial investigation determined that the gunshot victim and another male subject were in some sort of argument/confrontation in the house. It was during this confrontation that the victim was shot and transported by CareFlight to Miami Valley Hospital in Dayton with serious injuries.
Investigators executed a search warrant at the residence where evidence was collected, including the gun.
The Preble County 9-1-1 Center received at least two 9-1-1 calls reporting this incident.
Both the victim and the suspect – identified as Mark W. Bowman (64) – placed calls after the shooting occurred.
A third call was made by the suspect’s wife, who was not at the residence at the time, reporting that someone was being threatened with a gun at the residence.

Formal charges have been filed in Eaton Municipal Court related to the shooting that occurred in Lakengren on Tuesday, September 30th. Bowman has been charged with one count of Felonious Assault with firearm specifications, a 2nd degree felony.
Bowman is expected to have his initial appearance in Eaton Municipal Court on Friday.
