ANSONIA – Greenville American Legion Post 140 Commander Ken Wombold was installed as the new Darke County American Legion Commander for the next year.

Incoming American Legion 3rd District Commander Chris Emmons installed the Darke County officers and closed the night with the installation of Commander Wombold.

“I can’t wait to work with Ken,” said Emmons. “We’re already starting to look at our plan for the year and what we can do to help the posts in the county and make sure this continues to be one of the best counties in the state.”

“Darke County is the most active council we have in all seven counties the 3rd District represents,” Emmons added. “These posts come together and support each other and their communities. They mean a lot to the community, and I love to support them. They do a lot for all of these communities in Darke County. If something needs to be done, all veterans here come together and do it.”

“I am honored to be entrusted with serving as Darke County American Legion Commander,” said Wombold. “I have a great group of people behind me at the post and county levels.”

Local American Legions across the nation often go unnoticed, traveling under the radar in the many ways they continually support the local communities.

“One thing about veterans organizations, sometimes we’re a little humble and we don’t like to brag about what we do,” said Emmons. “If people knew what these posts do for the communities, from local rec leagues to helping someone who might have lost a house to a natural disaster, so much is done for veterans, our youth, and the community. I can’t applaud the posts in the district enough for how much money they are giving back and veterans still serving.”

“I look forward to serving Darke County Legion posts as Commander for the next year,” Wombold concluded.
