Pardon me for not coming up with an interesting subject for this week’s column.
Recent inclement weather and a vehicular problem have forced Jamie and me to stay cooped up in our home most of the time; thus, there was no idea for a topic.
I’m not complaining. It’s just my excuse for not having an interesting entry, column-wise. Hopefully, my future columns will be much more interesting.
I was without a car for three days when I made a trip to Union City to pick up a friend. I didn’t make it to my destination because my car just stopped running when I made a turn on the right street and practically in the middle of the street. Luckily, if needed, another car could get around it if needed.
It wouldn’t start for me so I walked up the street to my destination and made some phone calls and, within minutes, a police officer showed up as did a towing company. My mechanic was only several more blocks away anyway and I truly didn’t want to walk that far since my aching legs and knees were already bothering me (probably due to the low high temperatures).
Then, my mechanic did his magic once again and I had it back in a few days. That incident wasn’t in my plans for that day, which was Tuesday morning, but I needed to get the car fixed because it was my only means of transportation without bothering to ask anybody for help.
The car was finished late Thursday afternoon and hopefully will not have to return to the shop anytime soon unless it’s for an oil change.
The problem was a bad fuel pump. I couldn’t believe it. My car started in all of that cold weather in January when I fired it up, so I thought it was going to be an okay winter, driving-wise. Wrong.
But, I’m glad it’s back home even though this recent “storm” covered it with a few inches of snow, not to mention the ice that was predicted and occurred.
I can’t wait for life to get back to normal. All I can say, be careful traveling in all of these snowy, rainy, windy days. Who knows what’s going to happen in the next five months when spring is scheduled to arrive? Even though I don’t like to hurry time along, I can’t wait for life to get back to normal again.
Bring warmer weather on.
One thing that did amaze me this past week is the number of people we know have passed away. Both my son and I were shocked to hear of the ones we know when we received each piece of news, especially our cousin Steve Waymire.

Think about it: “The thing about grief is that it’s very sneaky. A sound. A scent. A song. A smile becomes tears.”–Author Unknown
