RICHMOND—Wayne County Emergency Management evacuated all within a half-mile of a recycling plant in Richmond, Ind. that caught fire yesterday.

As of yesterday evening, the fire is reportedly under control.

The building housed the former Hoffco/Comet Industries plant, which made lawn and garden products for six decades before it closed in 2009.

Officials say one firefighter fell down a ravine and injured his ankle, but has since been treated and released. No further injuries or deaths were reported.

According to Wayne County Emergency Management, the evacuation order will stay in effect until further notice.
