Waymire for Prosecuting Attorney

1973

Paid for by the Committee to Elect Laura Waymire.

I am running for Darke County Prosecuting Attorney to bring new vision to our justice system. I am a lifelong Republican and lifelong Darke County resident. I take pride in Darke County, genuinely care about all the citizens here, and am dedicated to keeping our communities safe for generations to come.

Our community has been unhappy with how the justice system in Darke County has been operating for several years now. A top priority of mine is to restructure and strengthen Victim’s Services within the Prosecuting Attorney’s Office upon taking office. We can and must do better to hold criminals accountable, protect victims, and bring quality leadership to the Prosecutor’s office.

I’ve been working in the legal profession since I was in high school, starting as a court runner and secretary. After graduating from Ansonia High School I obtained my Bachelor’s degree at Ball State University. I then worked as a paralegal for eight years in Darke County before going back to law school. I attended law school at Ohio Northern University while raising my two children here in Darke County. I have been a public defender in Shelby County, Ohio, for the past eight years. I have also worked as a Guardian Ad Litem in my private practice.

Over the past several years, I have handled felony cases for the Shelby County Public Defender’s office, handling the entire felony docket of over 325 felony cases just last year. I have truly enjoyed my position as a public defender and felt called to do that work. I look forward to making a difference here at home and serving in my own community in a new capacity and with a new calling. I’m organized, thorough, effective, and take pride in my work. I always strive to do things the right way and the most efficient way possible. I have a passion and vision for my role as your Prosecutor and the character to make the hard decisions.

It’s with this passion combined with the quality and breadth of my experience that I ask for your vote on March 19th in the Republican Primary.
