GREENVILLE – Greenville held its annual Walk to End Alzheimer’s starting and ending in the Greenville City Park to raise funds for Alzheimer’s care, support, and research.

“We are very pleased with the turnout and support,” said Darke County Walk Chairman Lisa Bolyard. “It couldn’t have gone any better. We had more walkers than we’ve had in the last four years that I’ve been involved with The Darke County Walk, and we raised more money. People seem to enjoy and engage. It’s been a great day.”

“Lisa is fantastic,” said Ben Webb, the Walk Manager of the Non-Metro Walk to End Alzheimer’s Events in the Miami Valley. “Bolyard Heating and Cooling have consistently supported the cause for many years. What Lisa does on a day-to-day basis to support the cause, to get us in front of new people, and to be able to talk and share about the mission is critical to our success so we are appreciative of the entire company and what they do.”

The Alzheimer’s Association Walk to End Alzheimer’s is the world’s largest fundraiser for the organization, which is fighting for a different future for families facing the disease today.

Held annually in more than 600 communities nationwide, the Walk calls on participants of all ages and abilities to join the fight against the disease since 1989.

“We’re over our goal of $25,000,” Webb noted. “We expect this to be the largest revenue target we have ever had for the Darke County Walk. It speaks to the effort and time the committee put into making this happen.”

“We passed our participant goal by an astronomical number as well,” added Webb. “We were looking to get 130 people out here, and we know we have north of 200 walkers.”

While there is no fee to register for the Walk, all participants are encouraged to raise critical funds that allow the Alzheimer’s Association to provide 24/7 care and support.

“It is not a run; it is just a walk,” Bolyard concluded. “We all just walk. It’s just over two miles, and we would love for people to come out next year if you missed it today.”
