GREENVILLE — The Fort GreeneVille Chapter of the National Society Daughters of the American Revolution (DAR) is expressing its sincere appreciation to Greenville VFW Post 7262, Greenville American Legion Post 140, and Ansonia American Legion Post 353 for their generous donations of new American flags for this year’s 4th Annual Flag Day Swap event.

The annual event was held at Zechar Bailey Funeral Home in Greenville and at Ansonia American Legion Post 353. Community members were invited to exchange worn and tattered American flags for new ones, helping promote proper flag etiquette while honoring one of the nation’s most recognized symbols.

The Flag Day Swap has become a meaningful tradition in the community, providing residents with an opportunity to properly retire unserviceable flags while receiving replacements that can continue to be displayed with pride.

This year, a total of 121 U.S. flags and America 250 commemorative flags were distributed in exchange for retired flags. The event also helped raise awareness of the upcoming 250th anniversary of the founding of the United States, which will be celebrated nationwide in 2026.

Members of the Fort GreeneVille Chapter DAR said the success of the event would not have been possible without the continued support of local veterans organizations. Their commitment to preserving respect for the American flag and promoting patriotic traditions has helped make the annual flag exchange a valued community event.

The chapter extends its gratitude to Greenville VFW Post 7262, Greenville American Legion Post 140, and Ansonia American Legion Post 353 for their partnership and dedication to honoring the American flag and the ideals it represents.
