VERSAILLES – The Versailles Lady Tigers basketball program hosts Tuesday night scrimmages including teams from Bellefontaine, Graham, Covington, Versailles, Arcanum, Tri-Village, St. Mary’s, Piqua, New Knoxville and Fort Loramie under the direction of Lady Tigers head coach, Tracy White.
“It has been very competitive for the first couple weeks and this week it has been the same way,” said Coach White. “It has just been fun to watch the girls compete.”
“There is a lot of really good teams that have come throughout the area so we added a few teams this year compared to last year,” she added. “It’s been really good so far.”
The Versailles Lady Tigers are coming off an OHSAA DIII District Championship title with a 38-21 win over the Madeira Lady Mustangs before falling to the 2023 State Champions, perennial powerhosw Columbus Aftricentric Lady Nubians by a single digit score.
Versailles returns all players from 2023 with the exception of one graduating senior.
“Expectations are high,” White stated. “We absolutely have a target on our back but the biggest thing I told the girls, we just have to remain humble and we have to get better every single day.”
“We have to have a summer that is a great summer and so far the girls are working hard and they are hungry for more,” continued Coach White. “They don’t like how it ended last year so it left a sour taste which is good. They’re excited and they want more.”
