Versailles celebrates National FFA Week

VERSAILLES – On Saturday, February 22nd the Versailles FFA hosted the 10th Annual Free Omelet Breakfast as part of the National FFA Week. At the breakfast, there were youth farm toy displays, a photography contest, a youth coloring contest, farm toy vendors selling their products, a panel addressing the Avian Flu and its effects on the community, and a completely free breakfast that over 600 community members were served.

The Versailles FFA also had games and crafts for the youth and balloon animals. While serving around 600 omelets, the chapter was very grateful for receiving donations from generous community members who donated.

The farm display winners for division 1 ages 5 and under were: 1st place Wells Eilerman, 2nd place Gabe Pitsenbarger, and 3rd place Wes Luthman. Division 2, ages 6 to 10: 1st place Wyatt Eilerman and Makayla Pitsenbarger, 2nd place Henry Shappie and 3rd place Roscoe Keller. Division 3 ages 11 to 14 included: 1st place Maverik Keller, 2nd place Wesley Eilerman, and 3rd place Parker Timmerman. Division 4 ages 15 and up included: 1st place Nathan Timmerman, 2nd place Cale DeMange, and 3rd place Lucas Timmerman. The winners were awarded a trophy and the prize of money and thank you to Darke County Farm Bureau for sponsoring the farm displays. There were 29 Farm Youth displays exhibited.

The photography contest winners were – Middle School Division: 1st place Russell Winner, 2nd place Theresa Schmitmeyer, and 3rd place Christopher Delzeith. High School Division: 1st place Josie Pothast, 2nd place Nathan Timmerman, and 3rd place Blake Schmitmeyer.

Community Beginner Division: 1st place Trevor Luthman, 2nd place Jacob Schmitmeyer, and 3rd place Amy Hoying. Congratulations to the winners. The top three in each Division were awarded the prize money and got their photograph displayed at the breakfast.

The winners for the youth coloring contest were Kindergarten Division: 1st place Jace Stammen, 2nd place Reese Murphy, and 3rd place Jack Knapke – First Grade Division: 1st place Bernadette Schmitmeyer, 2nd place Kenley McNeilan, and 3rd place Molly McNeilan- Second Grade Division: 1st place Katie Subler, 2nd place Erin Pitsenbarger, and 3rd place Sam Condon.
