UNION CITY – The Union City Police Department responded to a school bus crash at approximately 8:13 a.m. Wednesday morning.
Union City Police Department officers were dispatched to the 1300 block of W. Hickory Street following reports of a school bus that had collided with a residential structure. Upon arrival, officers discovered the driver, identified as Jacqueline Stump (69) of Union City, Ind., was trapped inside the bus.
The bus was occupied by approximately 20 students, all of whom were safely evacuated from the vehicle. Three students sustained minor injuries and were transported to a local hospital as a precaution. The driver, Stump, was also transported to IU Ball Hospital for further medical evaluation. Preliminary investigation indicates that a medical episode experienced by Stump was the likely cause of the crash.
