UNION CITY, Ind. – The UC Lady Indians stunned the 9th-ranked Lady Titans of Tri High Saturday night, by a score of 49-45, to become the 2024 IHSAA Sectional 56 Champs!
UC started the game with a big first quarter and led the Titans 17-6 after one. The lead would remain at 10 in favor of the Indians going into halftime. Tri turned up the heat and came out of halftime with a big third quarter and cut the UC lead to a single point heading into the final quarter. The two teams traded baskets the entire fourth quarter, but it would be the Lady Indians finishing on top.
“It was a true team effort and the Indians played hard for 32 minutes, battling and keeping composure, earning themselves the title of Sectional Champions,” said UC Head Coach Sarah Black.
UC now has a shot for a Regional title on Saturday, Feb. 10.
