TROY—The Miami County Communication Center received a report of a subject hit by a vehicle at Treasure Island Park, 439 N. Elm St, on Monday March 6th at 07:29 p.m.
Officers and medics attempted life saving measures and the victim was transported to Upper Valley Medical Center where 17-year-old Gavin Palkovic was pronounced dead.
Upon review of surveillance video located in the park, the victim is seen on a bicycle holding onto the passenger side of the moving pick-up truck. As the pick-up truck turns in the parking lot, the victim is propelled in front of the truck where he is struck. The driver was identified as a 16-year-old male.
The investigation is ongoing. Upon conclusion of the investigation, it will be presented to Prosecutors for possible charges.
