Tri-Village Patriots varsity softball and baseball teams defeat Preble Shawnee Arrows for sweep of Senior Night action in New Madison

NEW MADISON – The Tri-Village used Senior Night to sweep the visiting Preble Shawnee Arrows in Lady Patriots softball and varsity boys baseball, with the girls earning an 18-0 run rule win and the baseball team taking the Arrows 7-5.

With the Thursday night Lady Patriots win and a 9-6 loss by the second-place Arcanum Lady Trojans to the Newton Lady Indians, the Tri-Village Lady Patriots win the 2025 Western Ohio Athletic Conference title outright.

The Lady Arrows struggled on the mound, passing out eight walks and numerous hit by pitches, with Tri-Village banging out nine hits in four innings at the plate to earn the league win.

Elizabeth Poling was perfect on the mound for Tri-Village, facing the minimum 15 batters in five innings of work, allowing no hits and no walks in earning the Lady Patriots’ win.

Emma Greer paced Tri-Village at the plate, going 4-4 with 3 RBI, and 2 runs scored. Hailey Burk was 1-2 with 2 walks 2 RBI, 2 runs; Camryn Osborne went 1-1 with 4 runs; Aereonna Baker went 1-1 with 2 walks, 2 runs; Emma Cantrell was 1-3, 1 walk, 1 RBI, 2 runs; Addy Wright went 1-2, 1 walk, 1 RBI, 1 run; Kash Mead 1 walk, 2 runs.

With the victory, Tri-Village stays perfect on the season with a 21-0 overall record and 10-0 in the WOAC. The Lady Arrows fall to 6-11 overall and 3-5 in conference play.

Tri-Village scored a single run in the bottom of the first and two runs in the second to lead 3-0 after two complete innings of play. The Patriots made it a 7-0 score, plating four runs in the bottom of the fifth before the visitors made it interesting, scoring two runs in the top of the sixth and three in the seventh, coming up short in losing 7-5 in the conference meeting.

With the win, Tri-Village improves to 6-9 overall on the season and 2-6 in WOAC action. Preble Shawnee drops to 5-10 overall and 5-4 in conference play.
