I read Mr. Aultman’s Facebook post with interest! I currently serve as a director and treasurer for the Ag Society. I struggle with information that is taken as gospel on social media! Why not ask a fair board member? My information is current, accurate, and to the best of my ability true! So why not ask a fair board member? I have served as a board member for 4 years. I do my best to understand the complete process. As a board member, you serve on multiple committees; there are a total of 58. Because of this factor, you must trust your fellow board members to research and report facts regarding issues outside your parameters. Unfortunately, if enough questions are not asked, things change sometimes for the worse.
The Ag Society is solvent and is financially sound. The 2026 fair will happen without increasing debt load. We do not need to sell farm land to stay afloat, and will in a reasonable amount of time, pay our way out of debt. Your Darke County Fairgrounds are valued at a little over 10 million dollars. We have a beautiful facility and we are very proud of it.
The Great Darke County Fair is an ever-evolving and complex business. Not every decision is correct, we know that but we keep coming up to bat. 2026 is the 170th Darke County Fair and regardless of the Facebook propaganda, is still the greatest county fair in the area.
Back to my original statement, I think the fair board understands better than you think Mr. Aultman.
I am one of the 14 people running for the 4 board positions open this year. It is my opinion that there are 4 candidates that have similar goals for the future and 10 different agendas on the ballot. The first thing I learned after volunteering for my position was that agendas get buried fast and new ideas will be discussed multiple times. I seriously ask all of the Ag Society members to study what’s right for the Great Darke County Fair. My goals include proper and accurate financial reporting, modernization of the existing technology, and finishing existing projects.
I am asking that Darke County support my candidacy for another term. It is my desire to see the current situation through to the end! I believe that the Great Darke County Fair is still great and will continue to be a shining star in Darke County.
