SWAT standoff leads to arrest of 1 male

PREBLE COUNTY – On Wednesday, July 9, deputies were contacted by the Wayne County Sheriff’s Office requesting assistance in locating a wanted subject from their county. Trenton A. Wintrow (26) of Richmond, Ind., was believed to be at a residence in New Westville. He was wanted for failure to appear on original charges of Intimidation (Threat to commit a forcible felony) and public intoxication.

Deputies arrived at 10036 SR 320 and located Wintrow. As he exited a rear door, he was confronted by a deputy and immediately retreated into the house. Wintrow has a history of violence and resisting law enforcement in prior interactions.

Two females who were also in the residence were evacuated. Wintrow refused to voluntarily exit the house for more than two hours. The Darke County SWAT Team was contacted and responded to the scene. Preble County SO and Eaton PD are members of this team. A search warrant was secured for the residence. As SWAT units were about to make their initial entrance into the residence, Wintrow exited out a rear door and was immediately apprehended.

Wintrow was transported to the Preble County Jail. He now faces additional charges in Preble County. He was formally charged in Eaton Municipal Court with the following:

  • Inducing Panic, a 5th Degree Felony
  • Obstructing Official Business, a 5th Degree Felony
  • Resisting Arrest, a 2nd Degree Misdemeanor.

SR 320 was closed for several hours during this incident.
