The next full Moon will rise on Friday evening, reaching its peak illumination at 9:08 pm EDT. The Strawberry Moon will appear full for about three days, from Thursday evening to Sunday morning.
This full moon will be the lowest we’ve seen in a long time, which will make it appear much larger than normal. This is known as a “moon illusion”.
The colorful name was given to this lunar event due to wild strawberries that start to ripen during early summer giving the name to June’s Full Moon.
