DARKE COUNTY – The Darke County Commissioners’ Oct. 6 regular meeting started at 9:30 a.m. with Commissioners Aultman, Combs, and Flatter present. The Commissioners then approved the October 1 minutes.
Next was the Examination and Allowance of Bills. The General Fund amount was $89,272.14, Outside funds totaled $405,016.93, and a total of $494,287.07 was approved.
Three departments had transfers of appropriations. Ditch maintenance transferred $1,145.09 to cover term vacation and term compensation. The Building Department transferred $4,000.00 to cover Surface Pro, and Adult Probation transferred $1,150.00 for vehicle parts.
Two fund advance backs were approved for the Grants Dept. The Fort Jefferson sewer project sent back $147,500.00, and the 2024 CDBG Grant for various projects returned $476,093.42. Both were readily approved.
The monthly JFS Children’s Services support for October, $60,788.78, was approved.
The Darke County Auditor had a revenue and appropriation increase of $7.36 because real estate fees came in higher than expected.
The Animal Shelter was approved for a part-time kennel worker. Tara Lambert will start on Oct. 7, 2026.
Complete Demolition Services, LLC. out of Louisville, Kentucky, was approved to demolish the Cooper Farms mill in Union City for $128,410. This is all Brownfield Remediation money, not county funds.
A Special Planning Commission meeting open to the public will take place October 8th at 8:00 a.m. in the Darke County Commissioners’ office at 520 S. Broadway in Greenville. The meeting will address the modifications to Data Center regulations.
