After showing as a Cloverbud, this is Sophia Hart’s first year showing as a 4-H Club member. She is in the Darke County Meat Club and is in 4th Grade at Ansonia Schools.
Sophia likes that her family has also shown goats.
“My dad used to show goats,” Sophia said. “My brother shows, too. Goats is the main thing in my family.”
Sophia brought eight goats to the fair and has three more at home. She has Breed Stock, Dairy, and Boer goats.
While Sophie says the most challenging thing is getting all the feed ready and mixing it, she says that showmanship is her favorite.
“I wanted to show cows, goats, and pigs, but like, I would be showing at the same exact time,” Sophia said. “My mom tells everybody if I had a choice, I would be showing every animal here.”
Sophia also shared a fun story about her goats.
“Sometimes, if they get too cold, we bring them in the house,” Sophia said. “We wrap them up in towels and just cuddle with them on the couch so they feel comfortable.
When Sophia isn’t showing, she enjoys hanging out with her family at the fair, eating breakfast sandwiches, and riding the Ferris Wheel.
