GREENVILLE – The visiting Sidney Yellow Jackets took advantage of the hot hand draining 11 three-pointers to manufacture three unanswered scoring runs totaling a 26-0 count to defeat the Green Wave 56-41 in Tuesday night boys varsity basketball action.

“Sidney has three guys we know can shoot the ball very well,” said Greenville coach, Matt Hamilton. “We didn’t close out. We talked all week in practice about making sure we got hands in faces, closing out, and make them beat us off the dribble but they hit – and deep ones too.”

Sidney jumped out to an early 8-0 lead for the first unanswered run of the night and pushed its lead to 14-4 with 2:30 on the first quarter clock before the Wave closed out with a 3-0 run for a 14-7 Sidney lead after one complete.

“We made a couple of runs,” Hamilton noted. “We couldn’t quite get over the hump and they made shots when they needed to. That’s what good players do.”

“We didn’t hit a lot of shots we needed to make tonight,” said Coach Hamilton. “Some of them were good shots, some were forced. Our guys have to get better at working in the offseason, get more shots and develop.”

“They compete, they play from buzzer to buzzer,” Hamilton continued. “We had some different guys do some good things tonight. We have to find ways to put it together like we did against Fairborn and Piqua and tonight wasn’t the night.”

Julius Spradling led Sidney all scorers with a game-high 21 points. Drew Hamilton paced Greenville with 10 points.
