Safe Exchange Zone at Arcanum Police Department

307

ARCANUM – The Arcanum Police Department is pleased to announce the establishment of a Safe Exchange Zone at our station, 309 S. Albright Street, Arcanum, Ohio 45304. This initiative aims to provide a secure, well-monitored location for community members to conduct online purchase exchanges, child custody transfers, and other legal transactions that require a neutral and safe meeting place.

Our Safe Exchange Zone is equipped with Pro-Vision timer-activated video surveillance and designated parking spots at the police department to ensure a safe environment for all residents of Arcanum and Darke County. With the increasing use of online marketplaces and the need for secure custody exchanges, this space will help prevent potential fraud, theft, or confrontational situations.

We encourage residents to utilize this free service as a proactive step toward safety. Our officers will not directly oversee exchanges unless requested. However, the presence of law enforcement nearby and video monitoring will serve as a strong deterrent to criminal activity.

The Arcanum Police Department remains committed to the safety and well-being of our community, and this initiative will serve as an invaluable resource for residents. We appreciate your help in spreading the word and ensuring that our community members are aware of this new service designed to enhance public safety.

For more information or copies of video footage, please contact Chief Marcus Ballinger at 937-692-8500. The Arcanum Police Department will adhere to all public records laws as defined in ORC 149.43.
