I love summertime, but this heat can turn itself down a little bit.
I feel sorry for those who have breathing problems and I’m sure the humidity doesn’t help their issues.
If I were younger, I would be going to a beach or pool somewhere. That is what my summers were like in the “olden” days. I loved taking my nieces, nephews and friends to these types of areas.
I think a lot of them would stand on my shoulders and dive into the water. Some tell me today how that did take place and I do remember it as well.
Jamie, my son, doesn’t get to do it anymore since I can’t, since I’m not steady on my feet like I was back then. But he does have those memories.
I remember the camping we did as well, especially at Fort Loramie, at Hueston Woods, in Jay County, Ind., to Brown County, Ind., and various spots in Mercer County, not to mention what I think was called Lazy River south of the Michigan State Line. We also did some swimming at Cottonwood Lakes and Stillwater Beach locally.
What fun we had on those vacations. But, they’re a thing of our pasts as far as activities go. Oh well, at least we had the experiences.
I’d do it again if I knew I could.
I probably got the love for those types of vacations when Mom and Dad would take us swimming. Mom was afraid of the water, but Dad wasn’t… yet they made it happen.
