Our household experienced several power outages during the past week and a half.
We had outages before but these outages were different. When the first snowstorm hit, only some of our power went out and stayed that way until the problem was resolved. Then, this past week when we were to possibly get more snow and cold temperatures on Thursday, the power went out again partially. What the heck?
During the second outage this past Thursday, I had an appointment with my kidney doctor in Troy, so Jamie stayed home. My niece, Michelle Jones, went with me. While I was in the doctor’s office, Jamie called Michelle and told her our power was back on and that made me feel much better. But, by the time I got back to our house, the power was out again, this time everything was off. Jamie said it had been off about two hours before it came back on at 5:50 p.m., another couple of hours later.
Each time we had outages, I lit candles and grabbed a few small flashlights so we could see what we were doing so that made me feel a little more protected. However, we had no way to contact anybody outside our home as nothing was working. I am just so glad the outages didn’t last overnight. I remember storms in the past, where people were out of electricity for days and I would never want to have that happen to us. I felt sorry for them because I would never know how to keep us going that many days without electricity.
I still haven’t heard what caused these recent outages but I hope we never experience them again.
We have lived here almost 17 years, having moved in on Jan 3, 2008. And, like I said, we’ve had maybe several outages but nothing like what took place recently.
So, partial outages are something new for us. I have not found out yet what caused these outages but I am appreciative that they were taken care of in decent time. At least we didn’t freeze.
Have I ever reported that I am not fond of winter weather? I don’t actually hate it, but I wish Mother Nature would take it easy on us. This old woman can’t take too much that involves change.
Have a great week and a Merry Christmas!
