PIQUA – The City of Piqua invites public participation in two meetings regarding dam projects in April. The meeting details are outlined below. Please note that the two projects are unrelated and do not impact one another.
The Low Dam Removal and Great Miami River Restoration Public Meeting is scheduled for 5:30 to 7 p.m. Thursday, April 17, 2025, in the City Commission Chambers of the Municipal Government Complex, 201 W. Water St., Piqua.
At the meeting, FlatLand Resources and Ecosystem Services will provide an update on the project progress, present the 60 percent design plans, including the proposed in-stream and river corridor improvements, and discuss the anticipated construction timeline.
Following a short presentation, there will be an opportunity for attendees to ask questions and comment on the project plans.

The Hydraulic Canal and Dam Safety Project Updates Public Meeting is set for 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. Thursday, April 24, 2025, at Fort Piqua Plaza Banquet Center, on the fourth floor of 308 N. Main St., Piqua.
City of Piqua staff and Stantec Consulting Services will provide updates from project evaluation work over the past year regarding Swift Run Lake, Echo Lake and Franz Pond dams as well as the connecting hydraulic canal system.
This public engagement is intended to help the City engage residents’ long-term vision of this water system, adjacent constraints, and financial viability to comply with the Ohio Department of Natural Resources (ODNR) Dam Safety regulations.
