Protect Your Privacy: How to Blur Your Home on Google Maps

If you’re concerned about privacy, Google Maps allows you to blur your home so it’s not visible in Street View. This option is only available on desktop or laptop devices. Here’s how you can request it:

How to Blur Your Home on Google Maps:

  1. Go to Google Maps
    Open Google Maps in your browser.

  2. Enter Your Address
    Use the search bar to find your home.

  3. Access Street View
    Drag the yellow Pegman (bottom-right corner) onto the map to enter Street View.

  4. Find Your House
    Navigate in Street View until your home is visible.

  5. Report a Privacy Concern

    • Click the three-dot menu (top left of the Street View image).

    • Select “Report a problem.”

  6. Request Blurring

    • Under “Request blurring,” select “My home.”

    • Adjust the red box to cover your house.

    • Explain why you want it blurred (e.g., privacy concerns, security reasons).

  7. Submit Your Request
    Fill in your email and complete the CAPTCHA. Click Submit to send the request.

Important Notes:

  • Blurring is Permanent – Once Google blurs an image, it cannot be undone.

  • Processing Time – It may take several weeks for Google to review and apply the blur.

  • Other Items Can Be Blurred – You can also request to blur faces, license plates, or vehicles.
